Berlin Brandenburg International School Berlin Brandenburg International School

This school in Berlin is a 700 student international English-Language IB Day and Boarding School offering Early Education through Grade 12. Not only do they provide all four IB programmes, they are the first in the world to do so. The campus is spacious and forested with over 360,000 sqm for growth and discovery. In Fall 2015, they celebrated our 25th Anniversary and are excited about what's to come. Working with purpose, vision and a detailed master plan they have committed themselves to continued investment and upgrades to the school and campus - both inside and out.

Curriculum

This was the first international school to offer all four programmes of the International Baccalaureate.  All students have access to a broad range of extra-curricular activities and field trips.  Classes are small, usually with fewer than 18 students, which enable the teachers to know each student well and address their individual needs. Specific support is provided for students with special learning needs and those for whom English is not a first language.

Facilities

Based on a quiet and green 400,000 sqm campus with spacious buildings and class rooms, students feel happy find themselves in the ideal atmosphere for a good school day.  Across the campus there are large classrooms for the Primary and Secondary School, including modern Science labs, two fully networked computer labs, two mobile wireless computer labs, a purpose-built design/technology area, art studios, music classrooms and practice rooms, a multi-purpose room, a performance and exhibition space, a study room for grades 11 and 12 students, and faculty and student lounges.

Opposite the school buildings is a full-size artificial-turf sports field with a six-lane running track, opened in autumn 2007. In addition to a complete football apparatus, the field also includes a sand court for beach volleyball, basketball courts, and facilities for the high and long jump, discus throwing, and shot put. Floodlights and bleachers with seating for 820 spectators enable the school to host larger tournaments.

The Sports Hall was completed adjacent to the sports field in the spring of 2008 and includes three separate gymnasiums, audience seating, and a fitness room. The gyms, which can be combined into one large space, are fully equipped for basketball, volleyball, handball, indoor soccer, and tennis. Additionally, the hall contains a climbing wall, rings, climbing ropes, wall bars, and other professional-quality sports equipment. The sports hall is also used by the school as an auditorium, theatre, and concert hall.
